A Bright Spot in Summer 2010: The Solar Vehicle

News Image

Our solar electric vehicle has been a welcome addition for camper and for transporting volunteers, guests and visitors around camp. Purchased with the help of three grants this past fall, it has logged 550 miles and without a drop of gas or oil! The solar shuttle is used to take all campers from main camp over to the DAC (Disaster Assistance Center) for their service project. When a pipe broke and Ferncliff had no water in the youth cabins for several days, the vehicle was invaluable in being able to shuttle campers to toliets and showers on the other side of camp. Being able to take groups of our to 13 visitors, parents and guests has also been a huge help. Thanks First Pres Ft. Smith, Synod of the Sun, and the Trull Foundation for making it possible!
