Haiti...."Mom, Ferncliff Can Help!"

This morning I got an email from Kate, mother of one of our campers.  Her son Thomas was watching the Today show about Haiti and told her "Ferncliff can help!"  When she asked how he said “They have packets with blankets, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and crayons. You know, all the stuff you need, to help homeless people. I bet they’ll send them to Haiti and help these people."  Indeed.  Our campers get it!

Ferncliff is the only camp with a national disaster assistance center.  We work with both Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) and Church World Service (CWS).  For CWS Ferncliff stores/ships CWS Gift-of-the-Heart kits that arrive daily from churches around the country.  CWS anticipates that shipments -- particularly the Hygiene Kit -- will soon be headed to Haiti.  Over the next two weeks Ferncliff volunteers will make 2000 kits from scratch.  It is also anticipated that the volume of kits arriving at Ferncliff will increase in the weeks ahead.  Look under our "Outreach" tab for ways you or your church can be involved.
