Camp Raising Support to Give Solar Hayrides
Ferncliff is looking for partners to help buy a solar powered 14 passenger electric vehicle to move campers, visitors and guests around the camp. It is 1/2 mile from the dining hall to the Disaster Assistance Center (DAC) and future home of the Solar Mission Training Center. Campers take a tractor-driven hayride, but Ferncliff would like to eliminate the noise and fuel, as well as have something that more people can drive -- currently only the Director and Operations Manager are qualified tractor drivers requiring 10-15 hours of their time each week during the summer. A solar-panel equipped vehicle will be another significant and visible step toward being a 'green' camp, and a great talking point for the Solar Mission Training Center -- Ferncliff's next major mission intiative in partnership with the Synod of the Sun.
